Black Joe Lewis & The Honeybears – Mustang Ranch [Artist Introduction]

Black Joe Lewis and the Honeybears
Good Morning America! I have the pleasure of delivering you some fresh, funky beats to start your Friday off right. Black Joe Lewis & The Honeybears have a sound overflowing with groovy big band beats and soulful vocals that even I can’t help but dance to, and that’s saying something. Formed in 2007, the Austin-based group scours blues, jazz, r&b, soul and rock of the past to create a new sound for our enjoyment. “Mustang Ranch” is a song off their latest album, Scandalous, and one of my personal favorites. As the band points out, Joe is more of a screaming or talking-blues singer rather than a smooth soulman like my current favorite, Michael Kiwanuka. After listening to “Mustang Ranch”, I think you’ll agree.
