Indie-folk outfit, Harry Oakwood (Millionaire), have a tranquil sound that explores a variety of influences. With just 4 songs on their self-titled debut EP, they use a surprisingly wide range of instrumentation and melody to create 4 quality compositions. The influence of Patrick Watson can be felt in their calm build-ups, but once things pick up it is easy to pick up on influences from the Band. Group harmony and slow building tracks with heartfelt climaxes help separate Harry Oakwood (Millionaire) from the constant stream of indie-folk we hear today. Using the piano, they are able to capture the ragtime, nostalgic feel of the Band; though, being from across the pond, they add their own British flair. Harmony and folksy instrumentation dominate their EP, as much as though two qualities can dominate anything. Enjoy the new music video for “Empty Chair” and prepare for more from Harry Oakwood (Millionaire) coming your way soon.
