We go back to our favorite continent, Australia, for another great musical find. This time it’s San Cisco, the 4 piece lo-fi garage rock band which frequents bright and catchy pop hooks. With two EPs released thus far the band is still in it’s forming stage but its interesting to see how they’ve grown in only a few years. Their initial release ‘Golden Revolver EP’ was very derivative of The Arctic Monkeys, who are undoubtedly a major influence on this young band. ‘Golden Revolver EP’ had a few good jams including Girls Do Cry which you can listen to below. Earlier this year the band released another 5 song ‘Awkward EP.’ This one even featured an homage to their inspiration, with a cover of 505 by The Arctic Monkeys on it. The standout moment of this EP was the titular song, Awkward, which is without a doubt the band’s breakout hit. Listed at number 7 on Triple J’s Hottest 100 countdown for 2011, this song is pure indie bliss, and accompanied by a very interestingly hipster music video. The song features a beautiful back and forth between the bands lead singer (a Joseph Gordon Levitt lookalike), Jordie Davieson and the bands beautiful drummer, Scarlett Stevens. The song juxtaposes Davieson’s emphatic emotions with Stevens’s relatively emotionless singing. Enjoy!
