Welcome to the fourth installment of TheCollabProjekt‘s Celebrity Shot. By now, you already know how it works. Every Sunday, a member of TheCollabProjekt’s team takes over Pasta Run for a celebrity shot filled with dope music. This time around you’re rocking with GuillermoA; I started TheCollabProjekt a while back, and I work with Benjamin on the hip-hop side of the blog. Ben focuses on the old school, I bring the new school, so expect to hear a couple names you might not have heard too much from before each week that I’m taking my celebrity shot. Without further ado, let’s ride.
Fashawn – Manny Pacquiao
Today I was coming home from work, bumpin’ out to this young cat on the train when I remembered about this week’s Celebrity Shot. So, thanks to Fashawn and his dope ass music, I’ll be bringing you five tracks from some other “underground” Cali rappers, including Fashawn, one of my favorite up-and-coming MCs in the game. Five years ago he was invited to drop out and pursue a career in rap, and since then he’s been killing it, starting in his hometown of Fresno, and taking his talents all over the world. Manny Pacquiao is a track off his latest mixtape, Higher Learning 2. I’m posting this one cause recently I noticed one thing about this track: Fash doesn’t stop going, for three minutes straight. Get lost in the rhymes.

Sound Fx – Gladiator
Next up we’ve got Sound Fx, a duo coming outta Riverside, CA, producing some real ass music. That’s the best way to describe it. If you’ve ever loved a girl; if you’ve lived with your parents; if you’ve sought independence; if you hate working part time jobs; if you dream, and chase them… Sound Fx is a duo you need rotating in your music library. Gladiator is from their Still Dreaming LP, which was recently released. Make sure to check out their Facebook & Twitter for updates, and download the Still Dreaming LP here.

Radio – Save Your Critiques Till The End
When I first started the blog, I rarely got e-mail submissions… Until Radio landed in my inbox one day. Radio’s a hip-hop rapper/producer coming outta’ Southern California. The truth, this guy has an amazing sound. Legit, a golden sound. He hasn’t released much music lately, besides a couple songs he’s done production for, but his last project – eL Oh Vee e - finds constant playback in my library. The critics have compared this guy to Kanye West, Drake, Lupe Fiasco… That’s what this song addresses. A young cat, Radio just wants people to Save Your Critiques Till The End.

J. Good – Crazy Dreamin
J. Good is another one of those unknown artists I came across early on in my blogging days. The Sacramento rapper is a part of crew that goes by the name of The Usual Suspects – a collective of young MCs who got tired of being ignored, and united their talents, knowledge and creativity to take the game by storm. J. Good’s Look On The Brightside is a real dope project. Crazy Dreamin is one of the first tracks off of it, and it really exhibits his talents while recapping on his story – from banging pens on the desk tops, to his current pursuits.

Kendrick Lamar – Hol’ Up
Lastly, I’m gonna throw out a name I hope ALL of you know by now. Kendrick Lamar. It’s only right that I throw this name out when I’m taking a Cali-rapper-filled Celebrity Shot. The 24-year-old MC from Compton claims that Tupac came to him in a dream and told him “Keep doing what you’re doing, keep my music alive.” That’s a hell of a vision. Since then, Lamar has been on his rise. First he dropped O(verly) D(edicated) - one of XXL’s Mixtapes Of The Year for 2010. Then came Section.80 – one of my Top 3 Albums of 2011, yet. Hol’ Up is just a dope ass track – witty lyrics, an upbeat beat, and an MC who knows how to flow over his shit.

My time here is done famlay, but I hope you enjoyed this week’s Celebrity Shot. We’ll be back next week with some dirty, dirty EDM. Till then, stay up!
