The Hummingbirds – [Artist Introduction]

The Hummingbirds
The Hummingbirds are a Liverpool-based band pioneering the nu-skiffle movement. What’s nu-skiffle? Good Question. Let’s go back in time a bit. The origins of skiffle date back to African-American jazz using homemade instruments and improvised sounds. In the ’50s and ’60s, skiffle jumped the pond and experienced brief popularity and even attracting a young Jimmy Page. After falling of the radar of most, skiffle has risen again in the 21st century as nu-skiffle. Now that you’re properly informed, the Hummingbirds offer a great summer sound sure to lighten your mood. Nu-skiffle incorporates elements of jazz, blues, folk, and roots and the Hummingbirds add nice harmonies to top it off. Give a few of my favorites a listen below, there’s a little something for everyone in their eclectic style.
