The Very Best ft. K’NAAN – We Ok

The Very Best's album cover for "MTMTMK"
This is by far my favorite track by K’NAAN in the latest slew of new music he’s been putting out. And yet, it’s not even his track. The Very Best (any chance you guys remember “Warm Heart of Africa” from a few years back?) released this single from their upcoming album MTMTMK last week and the catchy afro-pop beat is tough to shake. And though K’NAAN is only featured on “We Ok” he does the lion’s share of vocal work, and gets back to some of his African roots-style rapping that I fell in love with on Dusty Foot Philosopher and Troubadour. Though there’s no World Cup in Africa to help boost this to the top of charts like Wavin’ Flag did, it’s still a great summer track that’ll get you moving despite this suffocating heat. Enjoy “We Ok” below, and join me in hoping for more of this style of production from K’naan.
