Big fucking news people! About an hour ago, The xx released their first single in nearly three years in anticipation of their upcoming sophomore album, ‘Coexist.’ The song, ‘Angels,’ is somewhat of a ballad in the vein of ‘Shelter’ from their first offering. With crooning vocals from Romy over their trademarked slow chill beats, this song sounds somewhat like ‘Love Love Love’ by Of Monsters and Men remixed into the style of The xx. ‘Angels,’ is even more barren musically than many of their hits from their first album, with only a few well timed guitar strums to set the mood over the chillectro beats.
